"At what value of Δt does the magnitude of the σ-root from the largest magnitude λ-root become equal to that from the smallest magnitude λ-root for Trapezoidal time marching for the given space mesh?"
It looks to me like this only happens at h = 0. Anyone get another answer?

Tim figured out the answer. If you set \(\sigma_1 = \sigma_M\) you will get the trivial answer \(h=0\). But, if you set \(\sigma_1 = -\sigma_M\), you will get the right answer.
\[h = \frac{2}{\sqrt{\lambda_1\lambda_M}} = 0.008 \]
